All About AX Soup

AX Soup is a blog dedicated to AX beginners, or new users in AX. Within this blog, I primarily demonstrate topics by using screenshots of an AX 2012 R3 environment, but many of the principles shown can be applied to AX 2012, AX 2012 R2, or even AX 2009. Considering that new versions of AX (referred to as Dynamics 365 for Operations) are similar to AX 2012 R3, the functionality can be applied there as well!

I began working in AX in the year 2012, so I bring several years of experience to this blog. One of my main concerns starting out in AX was the lack of basic functional documentation on this ERP product. As I got more confident in my understanding of how the system works, I began sharing my knowledge through the AXUG, or AX User Group, in a webinar series called AX for Dummies. I will now apply some of those teachings here in a more condensed format.

Topics that I cover (or will cover):

  • AX 2012
  • Trade and Logistics
  • Sales
  • Procurement
  • BOMs and Routes
  • Production control
  • Master Planning
  • Financials
  • Inventory
  • Supply chain
  • Human resources

Microsoft Dynamics AX is a full Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution that is used in many different companies.

Different types of companies that use AX might include:

  • Manufacturing
  • Retail
  • Distribution
  • Public sector
  • Construction
